History

Estonian Rectors Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences (RCUAS) was founded in 1992.

 

The Statutes of RCUAS as a social organisation were registered by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research on March 2, 1993.

 

The first Chairman of the RCUAS was Arvi Altmäe, Rector of Tallinn College of Engineering, whose term lasted until 2004.

 

In the years 2004/05, Villu Mikita, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy served as the Chairman of RCUAS.

 

In the years 2005/06, the Chairman of RCUAS was Vallo Nuust, Rector of Tartu Art College.

 

On May 18, 2006, a new Agreement of Cooperation and Rules of Procedure were approved, based on which a new Chairman and Vice Chairman are appointed every year according to the principle of rotation.

 

In 2006/07 the Chairman was Arvi Altmäe, Rector of Tallinn College of Engineering, and Vice Chairman Mati Lukas, Rector of Mainor Business School.

 

The first RCUAS conference “Universities of Applied Sciences in the Society of the Future” took place at the Estonian National Library on November 2-3, 2006.

 

In the years 2007/08, the Chairman of RCUAS was Mati Lukas, Rector of Mainor Business School, and the Vice Chairman Anneli Kannus, Rector of Tartu Health Care College.

 

In the years 2008/09 the RCUAS was run by Anneli Kannus, Rector of Tartu Health Care College. The Vice Chairman’s duties were carried out by Ülle Ernits, Rector of Tallinn Health Care College.

 

In the years 2009/10, the Chairman of RCUAS was Ülle Ernits, Rector of Tallinn Health Care College.

 

In the years 2010/11, the Chairman of RCUAS was Vallo Nuust, Rector of Tartu Art College.

 

In the years 2011/12 and 2012/13, the Chairman of RCUAS was Jaan Tamm, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy.

 

In the years 2013/14, the Chairman of RCUAS was Enno Lend, Rector of TTK UAS. The Vice Chairman was Krista Tuulik, Rector of Estonian Entrepreneurship UAS.

 

In the years 2014/15, the Chairman of RCUAS was Tiit Roosmaa, Rector of the Estonian Information Technology College.

 

 

On June 2, 2015, a new Agreement of Cooperation and Rules of Procedure were approved.

 

In the years 2015/16, the Chairman of RCUAS was Tiit Roosmaa, Rector of the Estonian Information Technology College and the Vice Chairman was Jaanus Jakimenko, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy.

 

In the years 2016/17, the Chairman of RCUAS was Jaanus Jakimenko, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy and the Vice Chairman was Enno Lend, Rector of TTK UAS.

 

In the years 2017/18, the Chairman of RCUAS was Enno Lend, Rector of TTK UAS and the Vice Chairman was Vallo Nuust, Rector of Tartu Art College.

 

In the years 2018/19, the Chairman of RCUAS was Ulla Preeden, Rector of Tartu Health Care College and the Vice Chairman was Ülle Ernits, Rector of Tallinn Health Care College.

 

In the years 2019/20, the Chairman of RCUAS was Ülle Ernits, Rector of Tallinn Health Care College. The Vice Chairman was Mait Rungi, Rector of Estonian Entrepreneurship UAS.

 

In the years 2020/21, the Chairman of RCUAS was Mait Rungi, Rector of Estonian Entrepreneurship UAS. The Vice Chairman was Koit Kaskel, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy.

 

In the years 2021/22, the Chairman of RCUAS is Koit Kaskel, Rector of Estonian Aviation Academy. The Vice Chairman is Marek Link, Rector of Estonian Academy of Security Sciences.

 

In the years 2022/23, the Chairman of RCUAS is Enno Lend, Rector of TTK UAS. The Vice Chairman is Ulla Preeden, Rector of Tartu Health Care College.

 

In the years 2023/24, the Chairman of RCUAS is Ulla Preeden, Rector of Tartu Health Care College. The Vice Chairman is Ülle Ernits, Rector of Tallinn Health Care College.
